- For Turkish Applicants
-
- To graduate from theology, Islamic Sciences, Religious Culture and Ethics and other undergraduate programs.
- The minimum GPA in the Master’s degree should not be less than 3.00 out of 4.
- ALES score in Verbal part should not be less than 65. An equivalent GMAT or GRE score is also acceptable.
- YDS or e-YDS score should not be less than 55. An equivalent score on an exam accepted by Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is also accepted.
- For International Applicants

- A commission set up by the relevant department’s directorate and composed of at least 3 faculty members determines the field in which applicants must hold an undergraduate and a master’s degree, the minimum CGPA and (for the programs requiring proficiency in a language other than Turkish) language proficiency level.
- Applicants must have 55 or above from a foreign language exam accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) or the equivalent of 55 or above from an international foreign language exam accepted by OSYM in another language than their native language.
- Applicants must demonstrate their proficiency in Turkish to be able to start their studies (This requirement does not apply to international students who have graduated from a higher education institution in Turkey). The others must achieve at least the level C1 in the Turkish proficiency exams such as TÖMER, DİLMER, and TYS. Applicants who never submit any of these documents will be required to take the Turkish preparation programs, which will take a maximum of two semesters.
- International students must pay the tuition fee of 6.000 TL per year.

Application Calendar and Evaluation
The application page becomes active in the period when the applications are accepted.
The applications are generally accepted in the months of June-July-August for Fall semesters and November-December for Spring semesters. The university website should be followed for exact dates.
Scientific evaluation examination is conducted on the date announced after the applications are accepted. The overall success of the candidates is determined by taking into account 50% of ALES grade, 20% of GPA and 30% of scientific evaluation examination score. Evaluation results are announced on the Graduate School's website where the program is conducted.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.
Applications are evaluated by taking into account acceptance requirements of the program and international student quotas. The evaluation result is sent to the applicant’s e-mail address.
Basic Islamic Sciences Ph.D program, with the disciplines in it, will provide an opportunity to analize the fourteen century old Islam religion and culture heritage regarding beliefs, praying, law and morals with an academic perspective, on the grounds of the main sources of Islam. It is among the main objectives of the program to analyze the inheritance of the past on an equitable basis and scientific discipline, to benefit from the knowledge and technological developments of the modern age and to find solutions to the problems of religion or to the modern problems directly or indirectly related to the society.
This program will be enable to treat the study of Basic Islamic Sciences as a scientific research area and researching on interaction of religion with individual, society, culture and history with a scientific perspective. With Basic Islamic Sciences Ph.D program, making scientific studies on both historical and actuel, and theoretical and practical areas, so that to contribute to increase the number of academic studies in specific in our university and in general in our country is aimed. . The field of Philosophy and Religious Sciences awaits its researchers on unstudied areas. In this context, with the therotical and practical studies in the areas of Arabian Language, Fiqh, Tafsir, Hadith, Kalam, Sufism and History of Renominations, correct understanding and learning Islam from the basic sources and Turkish culture, Islamic culture and universal culture, local and universal academic knowledge will be contributed. In this way, we will pave the way for the solutions of the prominent problems on the relationships between religion and person, society, law, culture, education, politics, economy and arts.
It is needed Ph.D programmes on Basic Islamic Sciences to increase collaboration both in Turkey and out of Turkey (in Arabian countries and Europe) on Islamic Sciences areas, to be able to join Farabi, Erasmus programmes and common programs as part of AB. The areas like Fıqh, Tafsir, Hadith, Arabian Language and Rhetoric, History of Renominations are closely associated with the teology faculties in Arabian Countries and teology and orientalism societies in Europe. Consequently, Basic Islamic Sciences Ph.D program which includes the mentioned areas, will pave the way to increase the relationship with the Arabian countries and Europian Universities and to carry out student and teacher Exchange programs.
